NOTD: Flowery Nails:

27.1.14

This is going to be another one of my really quick and easy nail tutorials that take no skill, today it's some simple little flowers. This should be something that's perfect for spring time because it's fresh and floral, especially with these colours but, of course, you can change the colours around to whatever you'd like them to be.

After painting your nails one block colour that you'd like the background to be. Take the colour you want the main petals of your flower to be and make random shaped blobs in random positions all over the nail, the random may seem strange now but it should make the flowers look more natural than if they were uniform shapes.

Next you're going to want to take a thin little paintbrush and another petal colour, like this pastel pink and make small little swirls, again in random shapes and sizes, within the blobs that you made before. I find that it's best to do this when the bigger blobs are still a little damp because it means that the colours will blend together a little more making them look more like flowers.

If you're as inartistic and bad at nails as I am then you should now have something that looks a bit like this, but I'm sure your nails look much better than mine do. The last thing to do is add a little yellow centre to your nails, this can be done as easily as the other step just take the colour on a paintbrush and apply a little dot in the centre of the flower.

That's all for another post, tell me what you thought of these nails in the comments below, and until then I'll see you all next time.

FOTD: Peacock Inspired Eyes:

24.1.14

Another day another crazy make up look. This ones just going to be an eye look, and it's based on the beautiful colours of peacock feathers. I got the idea for this a few days a go, I felt like doing something a bit more brave and bright with my make up with the colours that I never use, and this is what I came up with.

I started off by putting a bright shimmery purple colour in the very centre of the eyelid, I chose a shimmery colour for the centre because this is what's going to make your eyes look wider and more awake. Then I slowly started to apply more greens around the outside of the circle of colour I just made.

After that I put a really bright blue in the two outer corners of the lid and blended them all together so the made a seamless transition into each other. I repeated the steps of adding colours and blending a few times to make sure the colours really popped and had some staying power. Lastly I put a really bright green along the lower lash line so the look wasn't too top heavy.

That's all for this post, I hope you like the look even if it's not the most wearable, I'm thinking I should start doing a few more wearable looks. Let me know in the comment's if you'd like that as well as these more adventurous ones. I'll see you all next time.

I don't want anyone reading this to feel like I'm just shoving everything in your face or begging for followers, if you don't want to follow me you really don't have to.

Top 5 "Chick-lit" Books:

19.1.14

I thought I'd do another non beauty related post today, there wasn't really a particular reason for doing so I just really liked the idea of this post and after having the idea to do it I thought why not. I found it really hard to pick these books out let alone put them in order because I'm such a book worm, I have a huge collection of books, and until not too long ago I had even more before having a huge clear out. Anyway moving onto the actual post, I know "chicklit" isn't the most sophisticated of genre's but who can resist it every now and again.

Jill Mansell - Rumour Has It:

The number one spot just had to go to a Jill Mansell novel, she has to be the best chicklit author in my eyes there isn't a book of hers that I haven't loved reading and got through in a matter of days. They're just so readable and enjoyable, this particular one happens to be my favourite. I'm not even sure why I just really love the story behind it. I don't want to give too much away so I'll just say that it's about a young woman who moves to a small town and meets lots of new people. You will really fall in love with the main male characters and even more so with the ending of this book.

Meg Cabot -The Guy Next Door

I LOVE this book! I know that probably wasn't the most elegant way of introducing it but I really do love it. It was one of the first of these kind of books that I read as I got older and moved into more mature books, and I instantly got sucked into the story. The way is written is amazing, it has been written as a series of emails from a group of people and you get to hear their stories right from their point of view, then as you read further on you get to read the same thing being told from another point of view to a different character, it's the perfect way to get each character's viewpoint and such a new and refreshing way of reading a story as opposed to the usual way, it provides a nice change. Again I won't say too much about the story but it involves, murder, millionaires, secrecy, the love of a family, a married couple, annoying work mates and a dog! A must read in my opinion.

Meg Cabot - Size 12 is not Fat & Size 14 is not Fat Either

Ok, Ok I know this is technically cheating since this is a two in one book but I just couldn't resist. Again these are not your average chicklit books but both are about mysterious murders. As much as I like piecing together all the little clues of who did what and who the murders could be, one of the things I really love is that the main character is a real woman, with body issues and money worries, but not in the typical book and movie way where by the end of it she's found a wonderful solution to all her problems, she really is a real woman in the real world. There are plenty of twists and turns to surprise you along the way too.

Jill Mansell - Take A Chance On Me

Another Jill Mansell novel now, I know it looks like I have a really limited reading scope but this is my personal top 5 and Jill Mansell is such an amazing writer than she really does hold this place for me. I took this book with me on holiday to Cyprus last year and finished it within the first day. This is another romantic story, with a few twists and turns along the way, I really don't want to say too much about these stories because I want you all to go out and give them a read I genuinely love them that much! All I'll say is that if you want to just kick back and relax then you should definitely give this if not any of Mansell's books a read, her twisting plots and the way she interlock's her characters are always worth a good read.

Liza Palmer - Conversations With the Fat Girl

Last up my number 5 slot goes to this book, this is another of my first ever older books. I love this because the main character decides to do something about her weight and confidence issues and you really see the difference in her by the end of the story. This book has also had me literally laughing out loud a few times so if you're looking for a real feel good story to make you smile then this is one I highly recommend.

That's my top 5 what about yours? Let me know in the comments and I'll see you all next time.

Review: Bourjois Healthy Mix:

15.1.14

I know everyone's raving about the Happy Light foundation lately, but sadly I'm get to give that a go and having just finished this bottle of Healthy Mix (which incidentally is my third bottle because I was obsessed with this product) I figured I could go back to the old classic and give my thoughts on it as a product.

Years ago when I first used this product I remember instantly knowing that I'd get a lot of use out of it, especially in the summer months. One thing I will say is that you definitely don't want to use this if you have oily skin because it wont give you dewy skin just make it look even more oily, but any other skin type and you shouldn't have any problems.

The coverage is pretty light and fresh but it still cancels out redness and blurs your imperfections, which for me is just right on most days because unless I'm going for a particular look then I like a lighter coverage, but don't want the redness in my cheeks showing. I would say that this is the perfect foundation for going to school because its such a natural look and coverage and it has a pretty decent staying power it also fades out really nicely, without leaving your face looking patchy.

It never dried my face out or broke me out in all the time I've used it, which is probably due to all the fruity goodness and antioxidants that have been added to the product. Healthy Mix is definitely something that I'd recommend as a first foundation to younger girls and will certainly be getting again in the future. The packaging is also perfect as it pushes the foundation up the tube meaning that you won't waste any because by the time you're done with it the bottle will be completely empty.

Well that's pretty much all that I can say about this product really, I really do love it it's just such a shame that there isn't a wider range of colours that would suit all skin tones, I have the lightest shade (51) and I find that even that can be a little too dark for me sometimes.

I hope you liked this post and if you did or if you'd recommend the Happy Light foundation then please let me know in the comments. I'm not sure if I want to give it a try or not.

Haul: The Body Shop, Topshop, Boots & M.A.C:

13.1.14

A few days ago I went shopping with my friend (best friend tag coming soon!) to spend my Christmas vouchers and this is what I picked up. Alongside an amazing meal in a cute little cafe.

I got matched in M.A.C and I found out that I'm an NC/NW 15 depending on the season so I took the sample's home for now to decide whether or not I really like the Studio Fix Fluid foundation, and if I do I think I might have to ask for it as one of my birthday presents this year.

I then went to Topshop where I got this beautiful dress, for just £10 in the sale would you believe. It's a pink toned coral colour which should look really nice with a tan in summer, and it has a rose and lace pattern all along it, this is my first ever body con dress and even though I'm a little body conscious I really like it because the elbow length sleeves and the fact it covers the top of my thighs stops me feeling too on show. Although it is a little low cut in the front, but that doesn't really bother me too much, because it's such a beautiful dress. I know I'm going to be getting an awful lot of use out of this.

Again from Topshop, I picked up this midi ring in the sale. It's a little silver heart which is lovely, but in all honesty the real reason I fell in love with this ring is the sheer fact it actually fits me, I have very thin fingers so even the smallest of rings often go flying off my hands and I have to wear them on my thumbs or middle fingers. The fact it was only £2.50 was an added bonus too.

I only ended up picking up one thing in Boots and it was the Rimmel Stay Matte powder in Translucent. My current face powder is really on it's last legs at the minute so this one is a welcome addition to my collection. I got translucent so it shouldn't interfere with the colours of my foundations too much and I've heard wonderful things about this powder so I'm looking forward to giving it a try.

Last but not least was The Body Shop, you've probably noticed from my past posts that I'm a pretty huge fan of The Body Shop so I went in there looking for a new face cream because the one I'm currently using is nice for the night time but is far too thick for during the day so I was recommended this one by the lovely lady in the shop, can I just take a moment to say that the staff in The Body Shop are always so amazing and informative! Much love to them, but to continue I was recommended this Vitamin E Moisture Cream because It's full of antioxidants to nourish my skin and look after the dry parts without being too greasy on the rest of my face.

While I was there this Beautifying Oil in Olive caught my eye and after trying out the tester on my hands I just had to pick it up, it has a nice smell but isn't too Olive smelling. It says you can use this on your face, body and hair and I'm planning to use it on my cuticles and the ends of my hair as a deep treatment.

That's everything I bought, what do you think? Did I make some good choices? What have you brought lately? Let me know in the comments.

"Space Dust" Purple & Gold Makeup:

12.1.14

Ok, so if you've followed my blog from the beginning then you'll know this isn't the first time I've been bored at home and ended up making a crazy make up look. This time I was intending to make a subtle gold eye look, but then it escalated and I started getting more and more adventurous making this the end result.

For the base of the look I just used a fairly high coverage foundation with a high coverage concealer over any imperfections. Then I went for a very dark and very strong contour in the cheeks, temple and under the chin, I also contoured my nose which is not something I do often but I really wanted long thin features with this look because I think it compliments it. To add to this I also highlighted the nose, cheeks and cubid's bow, after applying a warm toned but shimmery blusher.

Now comes the fun bit the eyes and lips. For the eyes I applied a primer because I really needed these products to stay put and they were very highly pigmented. After this, using a flat eye shadow brush, I layered up lots and lots of gold eye shadow on the inner half of my eye. For the outer half I used a fluffy, bit still fairly thin, brush and used a shimmery purple eye shadow, then to help pull everything together I lightly pulled the purple through the crease. You'll want to keep repeating the steps to keep building the colour up and get it at the level of intensity you want. Lastly for the eyes I moved the gold and purple under my eye to help make the look more tied together. I also added a warm highlight colour on the brow bone just to help blend the purple eye shadow out.

As for the lips this looks complicated but it really isn't. All you need to do is put on a thin layer of clear lip balm with some serious staying power. Then I just used the same eye shadow's that I used on my eye's and used my finger to press the colour into my lips. I used the gold in the middle and the purple on the outer sides of my lips because it makes your lips look fuller. Like with the eyes this took a few layers to get to the colour that I wanted because I really wanted it to be noticeable. To blend the colours together and make it look seamless just take your finger and lightly blend the colour's together. This is where the lip balm comes in handy as it makes everything so much easier as well as stopping the powder drying your lips out.

At this point I decided that this was going to be an alienish or "out of this world" kind of look so I took the gold shimmer that I used and dusted it over the top of my cheeks. Sadly it doesn't show up to well on camera but it came out really nice looking speckly and like "space dust" hence the name of this post.

That's it the final look, I'm sorry this really isn't a very wearable one but please don't be put off by the lip it can easily be replaced with a normal lipstick and the eyes toned down a few shades. I hope you enjoyed this post, if you did please let me know in the comments! I'll see you all next time!

Review: Superdrug Style Expertise Serum:

9.1.14

If you've been reading my blog for a while then you'll know by now that I have a bit of an addiction to anti-frizz serums like this one and already have two other posts based on serums. I really rely on them to keep my hair tame, especially as I hardly ever use heat on it because I've been on a real healthy hair kick for the past few months.

My first impressions of this product were that considering it's a Superdrug own brand the colour and overall packaging of the product was really nice and looked a good quality, because of this I had an instant like for it.

The product itself was a really thick gel like consistency, which is always a good sign with serums because it means you won't have to apply too much. With it being so thick you really shouldn't apply it to the roots of your hair, but then you shouldn't do that with any serum anyway. I always apply it to damp hair and I instantly feel it sink in and do my hair a world of good.

By the time my hair has dried I have no fluffy bits or fly away's and my natural curls feel much smoother, shinier and in a general good condition. Without serums my hair tends to look like a cloud instead of proper curls. Taking into consideration this is an own brand continued use has done absolute wonders for my hair in the long term, the fact it's an own brand product also means it comes with a tiny price tag too which is such a bonus considering you could easily pay over ten pounds or more for a similar product to this.

Overall, I would whole heartedly recommend this product to all of you who feel like your frizz needs a little help taming. Whether used on its own or before styling it really adds something to your haircare routine.

I hope you all enjoyed this post, if you have any recommendations or requests for me let me know in the comment section below and I'll see you all next time.

Review: MUA Blushers:

5.1.14

I'm a huge fan of MUA as a brand because it has such amazing quality products for a tiny price, which is perfect if you ever want to treat yourself but are a bit strapped for cash. Or perfect for you if you're just starting out your make up collection.

This blush in particular is one of my favourites. I have shade 1 which is a really pretty cool toned baby pink, with very subtle shimmer running through it. It's a stunning colour and applies really evenly to the face and blends out well if you accidentally go a little heavy handed with the brush. Because it's a cool toned pink I use it most in winter as it goes well with the cooler make up looks of the colder months but the shimmer running through it makes it versatile enough to also be worn in summer and spring.

Not only this but the fact it has a shimmer means I can afford to skip out highlighter from my make up routine on lazy days. I feel that this colour in particular would compliment a wide variety of skin tones nicely but there are a range of other colours to choose from too. All products that I have tried from the brand are very god quality and very highly pigmented meaning you really don't need to apply a lot to get a good colour intensity.

All in all there really isn't anything bad I can say about this product, or the brand in general because I have so much love for it. I highly recommend giving it a look next time you go out shopping.

That's all for now I'll see you all next time. As always any requests can be left in the comments.

Haul: Boxing Day Sales:

3.1.14

Hey everyone and Happy New Year! I hope you're all doing well and have had a lovely start to 2014. This is going to be my first ever shopping haul post so it's just a little one because I'm not quite used to writing these yet as I'm sure you could tell from my Christmas Post. On to the point though a few days after Christmas my mum and I went out shopping for the day and I thought I'd show you some of the bargains we picked up in the post Christmas sales. My mum also got a few things for herself but I didn't have the time to photograph them sadly.

The first thing I have to show you are these two beautiful sets from nspa. One of them is in Clementine and the other is in Coconut. I think I'm going to get some nice use out of them when the warmer months come because they both sound like nice fresh smelling products. Both of the sets include a shower gel, a body butter and a body scrub which is perfect for me because up until before Christmas I was really running out of all those things. Finally though, and best of all in my opinion, they were absolute bargains! Both of the sets had been reduced to just £2, that's less than a fiver for 6 full sized products. They should be good quality too as everything I've used from the brand nspa before I've loved.

Also from nspa, although sadly I can't for the life of me remember how much this cost, is this sweet little set of four mini body butters. This time containing the scents Raspberry, Shea Butter, Clementine and Coconut. I think I'm going to be using the Shea Butter first as it's the most appropriate scent for this time of year, although I'm sure if you saw just how many beauty products I got this year you'll forgive me for not getting round to opening this just yet.

Last but not least (and quite possibly my favourite thing of the day) is this gorgeous quilted coat from New Look. It may not look it but it's one of the warmest cosiest things I've ever worn which is precisely the reason I bought it because I've been going all winter wearing just my leather jacket over tops and hoodies and been absolutely freezing all season! Not only that but my jacker didn't have a hood on it either, but now I've got a nice warm jacket in a subtle khaki green colour with suede elbow patches and nice sized pockets to keep me warm (can you tell I'm a little bit in love with this coat?). In case you were wondering this cost £10 in the sale and was stood all alone on the rack so I don't know how easily you'll be able to get your hands on it sadly, but there were lots of other coats around for amazing prices so I'd recommend going to have a look if you're in need of a new winter warmer.

That's all for now guys I hope you liked this little post. What do you think should I do hauls like this more often? Let me know in the comments.
